TypeOneNation 2016 promises a day full of educational and inspirational activities to help you and your loved ones better manage day-to-day life with type one diabetes (T1D). We are happy to announce the details for two of the seven breakout sessions planned for March 5th!

T1D Fitness and Exercise
Join Dr. Aaron Kowalski (JDRF) and Dr. Joseph Henske (DuPage Medical Group) to learn more about how to manage your T1D while exercising. Both presenters have run several marathons and have managed their T1D successfully while training and completing races. Whether you are a recreational or competitive athlete, there is so much to learn about T1D management and fitness!

For more information about Dr. Kowalski, you can visit his LinkedIn account. More information about Dr. Henske can be found at the DuPage Medical Group website.

Working with Schools and Your Child’s Rights
Do you have questions about T1D and schools? What rights does a child with T1D have? Suzanne Elder led the initiative for The Care of Students with Diabetes Act and will join us on March 5th to discuss your child’s rights and how to best partner with your child’s school. She will also be joined by Anita Swamy, MD (Lurie/LaRabida Children’s Hospital) and Staci Prince, RN (a school nurse).
